About Us

Mavi Innovations Inc. was founded in January 2008 to develop a technology that can harness the energy in free flowing water to provide a clean, reliable, and cost effective alternative to fossil fuels. MAVI also provides professional engineering services and product development expertise to leading technology companies in sectors such as Renewable Energy, Naval Architecture, and Aerospace.

Bill Rawlings, M.A.Sc: Director of Operations, Founder

Bill is a mechanical engineering graduate with expertise in naval architecture, finite element modeling and experimental prototype testing including wind tunnel and towing tank testing. Bill has managed a number of technical projects. He also has a background in securing an administration of government grants.

Randal Clark, Ph.D., P.Eng.: Director of Engineering

Randy is a specialist in mechanical design, materials, fatigue, fracture and ageing. Has has a broad working knowledge of metallic and composite materials and structures, from design conception and optimisation through to certification, testing and manufacturing. Randy is presently involved in a number of challenging projects in the aerospace and renewable energy sector.

Timothy Waung, M.Sc.: Hydrodynamicist

Tim's expertise lies in computational fluid dynamics, experimental testing including wind tunnel and tow tank testing, and developing fluid dynamics analysis tools. He also has experience with mechanical design, CAD and managing small project teams.

Voytek Klaptocz, M.A.Sc, P.Eng.: Technical Director, Founder

Voytek has several years of experience in managing the development of advanced technologies and project management. His technical expertise lies in computational fluid dynamics, naval architecture, mechanical design, and use of advanced analysis tools for research and commercial applications.

Willem Atsma, M.Sc., Ph.D.: Senior Systems Engineer, Consultant

Willem is an expert in controls for mechanical/electrical systems; he has excellent knowledge of both the mechanical and electrical disciplines. Willem also has experience in the product development, testing, design and certification process for complex projects such as interfacing of powered orthotics with the nervous system, and force and stiffness control of robotic devices.
